Figures, Faces and Places by Keith Turley RBSA

June 30 - July 27

We are delighted to welcome back Keith Turley to exhibit with us at the Rose Paterson Gallery.  Keith’s most characteristic work consists of large canvasses depicting figures in a variety of interesting environments – often industrial or workplace settings. His paintings of Black Country chainmakers and glassmakers have been shown in numerous Midland exhibitions to critical acclaim.  The other main focus of his work is portraiture, having built up considerable experience in carrying out many commissions, including special commemorative work for the show-business world. Keith has completed many portrait demonstrations for artists’ clubs. He also enjoys landscape painting “en plein air” of interesting places both in the UK and abroad.

“I find human subjects to be the most challenging and fascinating, whether it is simple portraiture, or a figure in a complex setting. This gives me opportunities to explore colour, composition and movement in all sorts of ways. I like to work on a large scale, using bold gestural marks which make full use of the quality of paint. The subject of a painting can simply result from something I see or chance upon, and then explore and research further”.

Keith is a full member of the RBSA , The Birmingham Art Circle, and the Easel Club.

The Granary Art Gallery is open daily from 11am to 4pm and is free to enter.
