Throughout the year we will be marking HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and our Behind the Scenes Tours will throw open the doors, both front and back of House for you to explore ‘Royal Weston’.
We will be sharing some of these fascinating stories – with remarkable items from the collection that are displayed off the normal public route. Over the decades the family have played significant roles at court including the 3rd Earl of Bradford who was Lord Chamberlain and Master of the Horse to Queen Victoria; Lady Ida, Countess of Bradford who was Lady of the Bedchamber to HM Queen Mary, grandmother of our present Queen and regular visitor to Weston.
We are not ashamed to say that you can’t see a preserved Victorian kitchen with rows of gleaming copper pans as Weston is still very much a working house and place of hospitality.
The tour will take in rooms that have been used by present members of the Royal family in visits to Weston. From the collections, the tours will include a variety of treasures that are not normally seen including paintings of Queen Victoria which include preparatory works for paintings in the British Royal collection and also chairs supplied for the funeral of the Iron Duke of Wellington at St Paul’s Cathedral in 1852.
The tour starts from the front of the House at 2pm.
£10 per person in addition to standard House, Park and Gardens entry.
