Award Winning Education at Weston Park
Weston Park has been awarded The Sandford Award for Heritage Education 2017. The prestigious achievement is given in recognition of the commitment to quality heritage education at the estate.
Weston Park welcomes over 6,000 school children each year for curriculum based learning and visitors to the estate during the summer can enjoy free activities delivered by the team with the aim of making learning and exploring the estate fun and stimulating.
Lead Judge Gareth Fitzpatrick MBE said: “Weston Park is one of Britain’s most popular and loved historic houses. It is nationally important for its building and collection of fine arts, gardens and designed landscape. The education offer goes way beyond the obvious treasure house with a well-developed wide-ranging offering of educational programmes for schools in a stunningly beautiful setting that cannot fail to inspire people of all ages.
The predominantly visual and kinaesthetic methodology adopted at Weston Park engages children and adults by placing the emphasis to a ‘doing’ and ‘hands on’ approach over the more traditional didactic style, which is to be commended.”
