  1. Mary Cunnah & Maggie Humphry Exhibition - Saturday 29th March 2014 - Monday 28th April 2014

Mary Cunnah & Maggie Humphry Exhibition

In April we will welcome two artists to the Granary Art Gallery for a selling exhibition of their recent works.

Mary Cunnah has been painting in oils and pastels for over thirty years and has achieved recognition as a landscape artist.  Living and working just outside Oswestry, Shropshire, Mary takes her inspiration from the landscape which surrounds the Welsh and English borders.

Some of Mary's most recent work examines the small hamlet of Sycharth, where Welsh ruler Owain Glyndwr once lived - and where evidence of the 14th century settlement including a motte and moat can be seen.  Mary has interpreted the settlement, working in situ, to capture the vibrancy and true colour which she feels is vital.

Mary has exhibited widely in North Shropshire for nearly twenty years and we look forward to welcoming her to Weston.

Mary will be popping into the gallery on Sunday 13th April to demonstrate her painting techniques and Maggie will be working in oils in the gallery on Friday 18th, Sunday 20th and 27th April.

Maggie Humphry is a well known ceramicist, painter and printmaker.  Much of her ceramic work encompasses delicate figures, murals in public places and a range of unique hand-painted wall tiles. She has had many commissions for murals, including one at Wigan Court House, which was unveiled by Diana, Princess of Wales.  Maggie's paintings and prints incorporate portraits and landscapes, using various mediums including watercolours, oils and etching techniques.

Maggie trained at St Alban's School of Art and was taught by John Brunsdon, who is world famous for his etchings.  She has been a professional artist since her teaching days when she trained as a teacher at Swansea School of Art & University and later as Head of Art at Barnet Grammar School.

Mary Cunnah and Maggie Humphry Exhibition will run throughout April.
