In September we welcome Shrewsbury based artist Linda Stanyer for a selling exhibition of her recent works. Her compositions themselves are not to be viewed as literal but more as feelings expressed using different mediums, from thick oils to watercolours. Her work is bold, abstract and holds a certain texture that brings it to life. Linda utilises colour and shape along with this aspect to create a connection for you to feel. Linda is a self-taught artist whose inspiration includes greats such as Rothko, Picasso and Miro.
Health and art are a combination that Linda feels have a strong connection. Consequently she has worked on many projects within the arts and health fields to see how ‘first hand, art can empower people, giving those of us who have no voice a way of to articulate thoughts and feelings.” To this end Linda has permanent exhibitions in many hospitals such as St Georges Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent
Inspiration comes to Linda from all around her, not only from the rolling landscapes of Shropshire and the classic English life but from as far afield as the chaotic city streets of Sri Lanka. She states ‘I find inspiration is in all things, the land and sea, shape and colour, poetry and music and of course people.” People are an immense inspiration to Linda, this is due to the vast range of emotions shown in their nature and these emotions radiate from Linda’s work.
