British illustrator and print maker Karoline Rerrie will be returning to Weston Park to host a Screen Printing Workshop on Saturday 27th September, giving students the chance to explore screen painting techniques.
Karoline creates images by hand drawing, painting, silk screen painting and ‘Japanese Gocco’ design. She has collaborated with many other illustrators in the group “Girls who Draw” to create limited edition ‘fanzines’ and colouring books. She also designs greeting cards, prints and artists books.
During the workshop Karoline will demonstrate and teach participants to make their own hand cut stencils and will learn how to use them to create a series of multi-coloured prints. Throughout the day, participants will also learn other essential print making skills such as, how to mix inks and use registration techniques. As well as creating prints you will gain the basic skills and knowledge to enable you to continue screen printing at home.
This class is suitable for those with little or no previous experience. We will be looking at contemporary paper cutting, screen printing and folk art for inspiration but you will need to bring along some images or rough ideas to work from; simple, bold designs and block shapes work best. Materials will be provided but you may also want to bring your own paper to print onto. White cartridge paper, coloured paper or card is fine, as long as it is not too thin (140gsm – 200gsm is ideal).
All materials are provided and please bring some old clothes or aprons as screen printing can be quite messy!
Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day. Lunch is not included in the price however the Granary Deli & Cafe offers a wide selection of light-bites.
The session will run from 10.30am – 4.30pm and costs £50 per person.
Please telephone 01952 852130 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book a place.
Places are very limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
