To celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Capability Brown Head Gardener Martin Gee will lead four seasonal guided walks across the estate to reveal Brown’s legacy in all its glory.
Martin will explore Weston’s entire landscape story from Brown’s original plans, what did they mean to Sir Henry Bridgeman who commissioned the work and what is Brown’s legacy today.
Capability Brown’s landscaped parkland is now home to some of the largest and most acclaimed outdoor events in the country. In August and September over 150,000 people enjoy the V Festival and the Midland Game Fair. Little did Brown know that he would create a natural amphitheater that would play host to Beyonce, Foo Fighters, Killers and Oasis over the years.
Martin will talk about how Brown created the park that we see today and the overarching vision behind it.
The walk starts at 10.30am and admission is payable on the day.
Price: £3.00 in addition to standard admission price.
